We put up with painful and itchy bites for several weeks before I realized that the bites might be due to bed bugs. I contacted a pest control company, which quoted me $550 for treating 2 bedrooms, BUT they couldn’t guarantee that the bugs wouldn’t come back. I came across Bed Bug Barrier online and decided to give it a try – we purchased the mattress encasements, diatomaceous earth powder, barrier tape, steamer and duster. The treatment process made sense to me, plus I liked that it was nontoxic and affordable. It took several hours to thoroughly steam our mattresses, headboards, bed slats and bed frame, apply the barrier tape to the legs, put on the mattress encasements, and sprinkle the powder where it needed to go, but the time and effort were worth it. It’s been a month and we’ve been bite-free, so the products must have worked. (I still have the powder around the bed legs and under the beds, just in case.)
Bed bugs are awful and their bites, even worse, so I’m thankful to have come across BBB products. And Tony, the owner, was so helpful with answering my questions. I’d recommend BBB products over pest control companies and toxic insecticides any day. While every product in the system and every step in the treatment process is essential, I think the killer powder is the star product – it doesn’t chase the bugs away to some other hiding place, it obliterates them. The steamer is the second most essential product because it kills the eggs and larvae and flushes out any bugs that may be hiding in the bed slats and corners.
I’ve never written a long review like this before, but I’m happy to spend a bit of time sharing my feedback. It’s been exactly one month since I treated the beds and I’m confident that we’ll remain bite-free for a long time to come.
